Kaweka's - May 14th 2026
A total of 8 volunteers went to the Kaweka's to remove wildings at The Lakes. We found multiple small sized seedlings of (mainly) Pinus contorta which we pulled or cut and pasted. There were only a few larger sized specimens which had been hiding from us previously, which felt great - real progress here at The Lakes. We had a perfect day for our mahi - a bit cold to start with which motivated us to get moving, then it warmed up and stayed calm for the rest of the day. Our wilding warriors...

Kaweka's - March 16th & 17th 2026
A total of 10 volunteers went to the Kaweka's to work on a private property on Burn's Range. We found multiple small - medium sized seedlings of Pinus contorta which we pulled or cut and pasted. There were a large number of older specimens which we decided to leave for a different control method which is yet to be decided. Makahu - Febuary 2nd 2026
A total of 6 volunteers went to the Makahu carpark where we headed west into the bush. We found quite a number of Wilding Eucalyptus along with the usual suspects such as P. contorta and Douglas Fir. Some areas had quite a few wildings to remove or drill & fill, some of them quite large and time consuming while in other areas there were very few to remove, mostly quite small seedlings.
