About Us

The Hawke's Bay Wilding Pine Control Trust was developed in 2022 to help the Department of Conservation and other landowners to manage wilding pine infestation. We co-ordinate volunteers and raise funds to help with this work. Our dedicated team is committed to preserving the natural beauty of Hawke's Bay by controlling the spread of wilding pines, which pose a threat to our native flora and fauna. We believe in the importance of protecting our environment for future generations, and our work reflects this commitment.

Trustee

Alan Lee

Alan recently retired from the Department of Conservation where he worked as a Biodiversity Ranger in the Hawkes Bay District. Alan planted pines in the Ruahines for erosion control in the early 1980's but in recent years had come a full circle and been involved with the control of wilding conifers, mainly in the Kaweka Forest Park. He says he has now removed more than he planted and can sleep with a clear conscience.
