Kaweka Lakes - July 8 2025

A total of 14 volunteers and Duke of Edinburgh Gold students were at The Lakes to go over areas we first managed 2 years ago. Surprising how many new seedlings there were - plus some we missed the first time. This is why we need to go back regularly! Every single one of these seedlings, if left untouched, would soon be a tree as high as a house, collectively costing hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars to cut down. Together we pulled, snipped and cut 3,721 pines. We only covered a portion of the Lakes area, so will be back again soon!
