A total of 8 volunteers went to the Kaweka's to remove wildings at The Lakes. We found multiple small sized seedlings of (mainly) Pinus contorta which we pulled or cut and pasted. There were only a few larger sized specimens which had been hiding from us previously, which felt great - real progress here at The Lakes.
We had a perfect day for our mahi - a bit cold to start with which motivated us to get moving, then it warmed up and stayed calm for the rest of the day. Our wilding warriors enjoyed being outside, making a difference to our wonderful natural environment
Members of our wonderful team pulled or cut (and pasted) 3,820 wilding conifers.
