Kaweka's - March 16th & 17th 2026

A total of 10 volunteers went to the Kaweka's to work on a private property on Burn's Range. We found multiple small - medium sized seedlings of Pinus contorta which we pulled or cut and pasted. There were a large number of older specimens which we decided to leave for a different control method which is yet to be decided.

Staying overnight in the local DoC headquarters was a unique experience, enabling the team to strengthen their bonds, enjoy the wonderful environment as well as get an early start on day two. We will certainly be offering this overnight experience as an option in the future.

Members of our wonderful team pulled, snipped and cut (and pasted) a massive 6319 wilding conifers across the two days.

Day one crew - full of energy and enthusiasm on a crisp and beautiful morning.
